Keith Lee

Chief Executive Officer and Co-Chief Investment Officer

Mr. Lee is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the firm. Prior to founding Feenix, Mr. Lee was a senior partner and Managing Director at H/2 Capital Partners (“H/2”), a $13 billion alternative investment manager in New York. In his role as Head of Capital Markets, he managed the firm’s more than $7 billion of financing and served on H/2’s Investment and Executive Committees. Mr. Lee has over 20 years of experience working with global financial institutions on the buy and sell side. Prior to joining H/2 in 2013, Mr. Lee was a Managing Director and Head of Structured Financing- Americas at UBS Investment Bank. He also held senior positions at Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers in principal funding and investments and as head of US CLO Origination. From 2013 to 2020, Mr. Lee served as an independent board member and was most recently the audit chair of Investcorp Credit Management BDC (ICMB), a publicly traded business development company that makes loans to middle market companies. He Lee earned a BA in Economics and Philosophy from Knox College and an MBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.

William Baker

Managing Partner and Co-Chief Investment Officer

Mr. Baker is responsible for investment and risk management. Prior to joining Feenix, Mr. Baker was a senior partner and Managing Director at H/2 Capital Partners, a $13 billion alternative investment manager in New York. In his role as Head of Corporate Credit, Mr. Baker oversaw a portfolio of over $8 billion, which was comprised primarily of corporate bonds and leveraged loans across the risk spectrum from investment grade to distressed and in various sectors, including real estate, retail, gaming, leisure, lodging, healthcare, homebuilding, energy, and entertainment. In addition to sourcing investment ideas, Mr. Baker oversaw risk management and trading and served on both the Investment and Executive Committees. Prior to joining H/2 in 2013, Mr. Baker was a Senior Vice President at Avenue Capital in New York. In his 11 years at the firm, Mr. Baker held a variety of responsibilities, including sourcing investments, managing restructurings by serving on committees and boards and trading the firm’s post-reorganization equities. While at Avenue Capital, Mr. Baker invested in numerous industries, including healthcare, retail, consumer products, media, energy, packaging, and technology. Mr. Baker began his career in 1998 at Spear, Leeds & Kellogg (a Goldman Sachs company) as a market maker and proprietary trader of special situations equity and equity-linked securities. Mr. Baker holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Babson College and an MBA from New York University Stern School of Business.

Thomas M. Betts

Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Betts is responsible for day-to-day operations and merchant services. Prior to Feenix, Mr. Betts was a Partner at DataWarhorse, a financial technology firm that uses risk management and artificial intelligences to construct and optimize portfolios for investment managers. Prior to DataWarhorse, he served as a Controller & Vice President of Middle Office at Tremblant Capital Group, a $2 billion registered investment adviser managing long/short equity hedge funds, long only funds and managed accounts. Mr. Betts was responsible for all aspects of fund accounting, operations, and risk management at the firm. Prior to Tremblant Capital Group, Mr. Betts was an Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers in its Assurance practice concentrating on Alternative Asset Managers. Mr. Betts holds a Master’s in Professional Accounting and a BA in Business Administration from the University of Washington.

Brian Mulhern

Managing Director

Mr. Mulhern is a senior member of the investments team. Prior to joining Feenix, Mr. Mulhern was a partner and senior investment analyst at Olympus Peak Asset Management, an $1.4 billion alternative investment manager where he invested in corporate debt and equity across a variety of sectors undergoing change. Prior joining Olympus Peak in 2018, Brian was a senior investment analyst at H/2 Capital Partners, a $13 billion alternative investment manager, analyzing and investing in corporate credit opportunities in real estate, retail, leisure, healthcare and entertainment. Prior to joining H/2 in 2016, Mr. Mulhern worked 11 years at Avenue Capital in New York, where he focused on identifying and sourcing investments, managing restructurings, serving on creditor committees, and as a member of the board of directors at various portfolio companies. Mr. Mulhern began his investing career in 1998 at Citadel where he spent six years focused on sourcing, analyzing and negotiating private investments in companies unable to access public capital markets. Prior to Citadel, Brian worked as an M&A analyst within the investment banking division of Merrill Lynch and as a consultant for Booz & Co. Mr. Mulhern holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Notre Dame.

Matthew Pilkington

Managing Director

Prior to joining Feenix, Dr. Pilkington co-founded Strategic Credit Concepts, a long / short credit fund with non-market correlated positive returns. Prior to starting the fund, Dr. Pilkington was a Managing Director at Steel Partners, where he ran the trading desk and helped restructure a $2.8 billion open-ended fund into a listed Limited Partnership structure that currently trades on the NYSE. During the global financial crisis, Dr. Pilkington oversaw a $500+ million dollar hedging strategy in addition to managing and trading the firm’s distressed investments portfolio. At Steel Partners, Dr. Pilkington sat on the fund investment committee and also managed his partners’ funds in outside managed accounts, which included unsecured bonds and common equities. Prior to joining Steel Partners in 2008, Dr. Pilkington worked at Spear, Leeds & Kellogg (a Goldman Sachs company), where he led and managed five investment professionals in a $150 million market-neutral special situations strategy. During his career, Dr. Pilkington has invested in numerous industries, including healthcare, biotech, oil and gas, chemicals, industrials, restaurants, telecom, and retail. Dr. Pilkington holds a first-class honors degree in Chemistry (BSc) from Imperial College, London University, UK, and a doctorate in Physical Chemistry (PhD) from Oxford University, UK.

Michael Siegel

Managing Director

Mr. Siegel is a senior member of the investments team. Prior to joining Feenix, Mr. Siegel was an analyst at KLS Diversified Asset Management (“KLS”), a $4 billion fixed income alternative investment manager in New York. In his role, Mr. Siegel invested in secured bank debt, high yield bonds, equity, and credit default swaps of public and private companies with a focus on catalyst-driven and distressed investment opportunities. Prior to joining KLS in 2018, Mr. Siegel was an analyst at H/2 Capital Partners. In his five years at the firm, Mr. Siegel worked closely with Mr. Baker and was responsible for investing in high yield and distressed securities backed by hard assets. Mr. Siegel began his career at Rothschild & Co. as an investment banking analyst. He advised numerous companies through Chapter 11 bankruptcies, restructurings, and recapitalizations. Mr. Siegel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Emory University.
