Keith LeeManaging Partner and co-founder / Chief Executive Officer of Feenix Payment Systems, LLC
Prior to co-founding Feenix, Mr. Lee was a Partner and Managing Director in charge of Capital Markets at H/2 Capital Partners, a $14bn in AUM investment manager focused primarily on commercial real estate debt investments. He served on H/2’s Executive and Investment Committees. Mr. Lee has over 20 years of experience working with global financial institutions on the buy and sell side. Prior to H/2, Mr. Lee was a Managing Director and Head of Structured Financing- Americas at UBS Investment Bank. He also held senior positions at Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers in principal funding and investments and as Head of US CLO Origination. Mr. Lee is currently an independent board member of CM Finance Inc, a publicly traded business development company that makes loans to middle market companies. Mr. Lee has an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business and a BA in Economics and Philosophy from Knox College.
Charles Essex Jr.Managing Partner and co-founder / President of Feenix Payment Systems, LLC
Prior to co-founding Feenix, Mr. Essex was a Partner and Senior Director of Operations at H/2 Capital Partners, a $14bn in AUM investment manager focused primarily on commercial real estate debt investments. While at H/2, he led and scaled H/2’s operations from one fund with $450mm in AUM to nine funds with $14bn in AUM. Mr. Essex has over 18 years of expertise in operations, infrastructure and human resources management. Prior to H/2, Mr. Essex held operational roles at DKR Capital and Voya Investment Management. Mr. Essex has a B.S. in Finance from the University of Connecticut.
Prior to joining Feenix, Mr. Blum was a Principal and co-founder of Hippeus Capital, a real estate investment and development company that focuses on value-add, redevelopment and repositioning opportunities. Prior to Hippeus, he was a Vice President of Grass River Property, a real estate investment and services company based in Coconut Grove, Florida founded by Justin Kennedy and Toby Cobb. Mr. Blum has extensive experience developing and operating commercial properties. Prior to Grass River, Mr. Blum was the General Manager of the Hotel Americano in New York City where he oversaw its development and ran the day to day operations of a 56-key hotel with two restaurants and four bars. Mr. Blum has an MS in Real Estate from New York University, Schack Institute of Real Estate and BA in International Affairs from The George Washington University.
Michael HoffmanPartner and General Counsel
Prior to joining Feenix, Mr. Hoffman was the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Long Pond Capital, LP, a $2.5 billion registered investment adviser managing long/short equity hedge funds focused on real estate and real estate related securities, where he was responsible for all legal, compliance and regulatory matters. Prior to joining Long Pond Capital in 2015, Mr. Hoffman was the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Tremblant Capital Group, a $2 billion registered investment adviser managing long/short equity hedge funds, long only funds and managed accounts, where he led the firm through its registration with the SEC. Prior to joining Tremblant Capital Group in 2009, Mr. Hoffman was the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Stanfield Capital Partners, a fixed income registered investment adviser and an associate at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP in the structured products and derivatives group. Mr. Hoffman received a JD from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and a BA in Political Science from University of Vermont.
Prior to joining Feenix, Mr. Sehgal was the Head of Fixed Income Emerging Market and Credit Trading at Bridgewater Associates, a $160bn AUM global macro hedge fund based in Connecticut. He was responsible for overseeing trading outcomes across 19 different markets and multiple product types including, hard currency EM debt, interest rate swaps, and credit default swaps. Additionally, Mr. Sehgal was responsible for spearheading financial technology initiatives, including building proprietary algorithmic trading platforms, and integrating external vendors with Bridgewater Associates in-house technology stack to increase access to liquidity and trading efficiencies. Prior to Bridgewater Associates, Mr. Sehgal worked at UBS Investment Bank as an Associate Director on the Structured Finance Desk. Mr. Sehgal has an MS in Financial Engineering and a BSE in Chemical Engineering both from The University of Michigan.
